LADY SALUQIS SOFTBALL TEAM SPLITS WITH NORTHWEST

The Southwest softball team split a doubleheader with Northwest Mississippi last Thursday at the Appling Complex, losing the first game 10-2 and winning the second 3-1.

In the Lady Saluqis’ win, sophomore lefthander Katie Cerrito (pictured at right) pitched her best game of the season, allowing six hits and striking out five in a complete seven inning game. With two outs in the second inning, Ginny Galloway drove in Christi Morrison to tie the game at 1-1 then Cerrito singled in Heather Bryant with the go-ahead run. Galloway was also the Lady Saluqis’ top hitter in the game with two base hits. Southwest added a single run in the fifth when Crystal Smith walked to lead off the inning and later scored on a single by Chrissy Odom.
