SOUTHWEST SOFTBALL TEAM SIGNS
THREE TO LETTERS OF INTENT
The Southwest softball program has
announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent.
Joining the Lady Saluqis’ program for the 2005 season will be Erica Brich of
Collierville High School, Crystal Smith of Horn Lake (MS) High School, and
Jennifer Davenport of Houston High School.
“This class will add needed depth in key areas,” said Lady Saluqis’ head
coach Keith Gentry. “All three come from quality high school programs and
should contribute right away.”
Brich, a right-handed pitcher, led Collierville High School to a 43-7 record
and a berth in the Class AAA State Tournament this spring. She posted a
15-4 record on the season, and was the starting and winning pitcher in
Collierville’s championship game victories in the district, region, and
sectional tournaments.
Smith, an outfielder, was named to the All-Chickasaw Conference Team and was
an honorable mention All-DeSoto County selection. She batted .277 her
senior year at Horn Lake, leading the Lady Eagles to the second round of the
Class 5-A state playoffs.
Davenport, a 2003 graduate of Houston High School, was a first
baseman-outfielder for the Lady Mustangs. She was named to the All-District
15AAA Team her senior year and played on Houston’s Class AAA state
tournament team as a sophomore. |
