WIN ONE OF THREE
The Southwest Tennessee Community College
baseball team won one of three games over the weekend in the
'Southwest Tennessee Fall JUCO Tournament' co-hosted by Southwest and
the University of Memphis. The Saluqis defeated Holmes (Miss.)
Community College in the opener on Saturday afternoon by a score of
11-5. On Sunday, Southwest lost to Wabash Valley (Ill.) 11-2 and
Southeastern Illinois 11-4.
Top hitters in the tournament for the Saluqis
include sophomore catcher Jacob Barker (.571 batting average),
sophomore infielder Chris Brock (.600 average), freshman infielder
Michael Fonte (.500 batting average, 1 home run), freshman outfielder
Tyler Lee (.500 average), and freshman infielder/outfielder Brandon
Doss (.500 batting average). Top pitchers were freshmen Nick Albonetti,
Brent Biggs, and Casey Cunningham, who pitched one shutout inning each
in the win over Holmes. |
