"Collins is a very athletic player who will catch and play outfield. He easily made the move to the outfield during the fall, which helps the coaching staff with lineup decisions."

High School: Coltharp played for coach Curt Fowler at New Albany (MS) High School, where he batted .560 as a senior with eight home runs and 53 runs batted in. He was an all-area selection as a junior and senior, and was voted Division 1-3A Player of the Year. Coltharp led New Albany to a 26-10 record and the North Half finals his senior season after a 24-16 finish his junior year. An outstanding all-around athlete, Coltharp was a first team all-area pick in football, was named to the Super 22 Division 1-3A football team, and received New Albany’s Mr. Bulldog Award in 2003.

Summer Ball: Coltharp played for the Pontotoc Red Sox under coach Nickey Browning.

Personal: Born March 30, 1985, in Memphis, Coltharp is the son of Tom and Kelly Coltharp.
