designated hitter. His fastball topped out at 91 MPH in the
fall."
2003: Meeker appeared in 12 games as a freshman, including
three starts. He compiled a 1-3 record and was second on the team with
a 2.57 earned run average. In 28 innings of work, Meeker struck out 29
batters and walked only nine.
High School: Meeker played for coach Brant Burleson at
Livingston (TX) High School, where he was a two-time all-district
selection as a pitcher and catcher. As a senior, Meeker was named team
MVP after compiling a 9-4 record with a 1.13 earned run average. He
posted an 11-4 record his junior year with a 1.78 ERA. Meeker led the
team in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched both years. He batted
.403 as a junior and .382 as a senior, and recorded a total of five
playoff victories in his career. Meeker led Livingston to a 23-11
record and a 6th place ranking in the state of Texas in 2001. An
excellent student, he ranked 10th in his class of 258.
Summer Ball: Meeker played for the Dodgers of the Memphis Stan
Musial League, and also participated in tournaments with Dulin’s
Dodgers.
Personal: Meeker was born March 29, 1984, in Houston, Texas.
