2003: Steele appeared in 12 games as a freshman, all starts. He
compiled a 5-3 record with a 5.29 earned run average. Steele was
second on the team with 40 strikeouts and walked only six batters in
49-1/3 innings of work.
High School: Steele played for former Saluqi Lane McCarter at
Houston High School. He compiled a 5-3 record with a 2.19 earned run
average as a senior, leading the Mustangs to a 22-17 record and the
regular season District 15AAA runnerup. In nine starts, Steele struck
out 30 batters and walked only 12 in 44-2/3 innings of work. He was
selected to the all-district team and second team All-Metro. His
junior year, he went 4-0 with a 3.67 ERA, 15 strikeouts and only two
walks in 21 innings.
Summer Ball: Steele played for Dulin’s Dodgers in the
Memphis Stan Musial League.
Personal: Born November 22, 1983, in Memphis, Steele is the son of
Ron and Theresa Steele.
