High School: Watkins played for coach Jeff Muiner at Olive
Branch (MS) High School, where he batted .432 his senior year and was
named to the Mississippi High School Athletic Association North
All-Star Squad. As a junior, he was one of the Conquistador’s top
hitters with a .415 batting average.
Personal: Born July 3, 1985, in Memphis, Watkins is the son of
Richard and Dinah Watkins.
