Collins Coltharp

Coltharp has been voted a Team Captain for the 2005 Season.

"Collins is a quiet leader who has progressed into an outstanding player.  He will be the starting catcher and can also play in the outfield if needed."

2004: Coltharp played in 36 games as a freshman, starting 35 and splitting time between catcher and the outfield. He batted .228 with 16 runs scored, 23 hits, six doubles, one triple, three home runs, and 14 runs batted in. Two of his home runs were game-winning shots – in conference games against Hiwassee and Roane State. Coltharp committed only two errors in 122 chances and was one of the top fielders on the team with a .984 average.

High School:
Coltharp played for coach Curt Fowler at New Albany (MS) High School, where he batted .560 as a senior with eight home runs and 53 runs batted in. He was an all-area selection as a junior and senior, and was voted Division 1-3A Player of the Year. Coltharp led New Albany to a 26-10 record and the North Half finals his senior season after a 24-16 finish his junior year. An outstanding all-around athlete, Coltharp was a first team all-area pick in football, was named to the Super 22 Division 1-3A football team, and received New Albany’s Mr. Bulldog Award in 2003.

Summer Ball: Coltharp played for the Pontotoc Red Sox under coach Nickey Browning.

Personal: Born March 30, 1985, in Memphis, Coltharp is the son of Tom and Kelly Coltharp.
