played for coach Shawn Wilson at Bullitt Central High School in
Shepardsville, Kentucky. As a senior, James led the team in almost every
hitting and pitching category. He batted .333 with three home runs, 20 runs
batted in, and a .506 slugging average. On the mound, James posted a 3-4
record with a 5.11 earned run average and 54 strikeouts in 63 innings. His
junior year, James batted .353 with six doubles, one home run, and 22 RBI.
