Melton has been voted a team captain for the 2005 Season.
"Wes has worked hard and committed himself to the game. He can play both
shortstop and second base, and will be expected to be a leader. He has shown
some pop in his bat as he led the team with three home runs in the fall."
2004:
Melton was
named by the Tennessee Baseball Report to the All-Region VII Tournament
Team. On the season, Melton batted .346 with 34 runs scored, 55 hits, 7
doubles, 1 home run, 22 runs batted in, and a .418 on-base average. He
played in 48 games, including 42 starts, and led the team with 94 assists.
High School: Melton played for coach Joey Nesbit
at Germantown High School, where he batted .299 his senior year with 24 runs
scored, 32 hits, three home runs, and 14 runs batted in.
