"Clay is a hard-nosed player who will no doubt have the dirtiest uniform when the game is over.  He had many clutch hits and RBI in the fall."

High School:.Wright played four years at Munford High School under coach Tommy Densford, where he led the Cougars to the Class AAA State Tournament three years in a row. His senior year, Wright batted .337 with seven doubles, three triples, five home runs, and as a pitcher posted a 6-0 record with a 2.26 earned run average. Wright was a two-time all-district player for Munford, and was also named to The Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps All-Metro Team. His senior year, Munford placed third in the state after winning the District 14AAA and Region 7AAA championships. The Cougars were state runner-up, region champions, and district champions his junior season, and region champions and 3rd in the state his sophomore year. Wright was also named to the Super Soph Team in 2002 by the Tennessee Baseball Report.

Personal: Born February 25, 1986, in Memphis, Wright is the son of Tracy Wright.
