Burleson was red-shirted.
2004: Burleson was a major contributor on Southwest’s Region VII
championship team. He played in 42 games as a freshman, batting .229 with
20 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 23 runs batted in and was
hit-by-pitch a team-leading 10 times.
High School:
Burleson played
for Coach Joey Nesbit at Germantown High School, leading the Red Devils to a
29-10 record and the USA Classic championship his senior year. He was one of
the Red Devils’ top hitters, batting .373 with 25 runs scored, 50 hits, five
doubles, two triples, and 12 runs batted in. Burleson was named All-District
15AAA, All-Region, and All-Metro.
Summer Ball: Burleson played last summer for the Memphis Royals, coached
by Keith Gentry. He played both second base and shortstop and batted .333.
