THURSTON
SIGNED WITH ARKANSAS TECH UNIVERSITY DURING THE EARLY SIGNING PERIOD
2005: Thurston started 42 games in right field for the Saluqis as a
freshman and was one of the team’s top hitters with a .367 batting average,
10 doubles, 23 runs batted in, and 6 stolen bases.
High School: Thurston played for Coach Brian Linaz at C. Milton
Wright High School in Belair, Maryland. A four-year letterman on the
varsity, Thurston was named all-metro and all-county all four years. As a
senior, Thurston batted .500 and led the team with 7 doubles, 8 triples, 32
runs batted in, and a .585 on-base average. As a pitcher, Thurston went 5-2
with a 4.86 earned run average and 37 strikeouts. He also lettered in
football and led the team in rushing his senior season.
Personal: Born September 28, 1985, in Belair, Maryland, Thurston is the
son of Sonja Thurston and Jerry Thurston.
