"My Bonding Retreat Experience"
by Felicia Jackson

I had a wonderful time during the cheerleading retreat.  Everyone got along and we all bonded and learned things about one another.  Some things we would have never thought!  A couple of the other cheerleaders and I made us a theme.  It is "never let go!"

On the way to Nashville and back, there was a lot of checking and joke telling going on.  I even got my hair weave taken.  I did not see it again until Sunday morning when we were on our way to church.

We departed Memphis at 3 p.m. on Friday and arrived in Nashville at almost 6 p.m.  We checked in our hotel and freshened up.  Then, we were off to the mall for our scavenger hunt.  Of course, the group I was in won!  We were in groups of four and we went through the mall finding answers to the questions given to us.  One of the questions was to find someone in the mall to take a picture with us.  We took a picture with a boy whose girlfriend was with him. She seemed mad until one of my group members explained to her what we were doing.

After the scavenger hunt we went back to the hotel.  Everyone in my group was given a first place ribbon.  We then ate and afterwards played this fun trivia game.  My team won again!  With the first place ribbon my group won, we got to be first at everything for the rest of the weekend.

On Saturday morning, everyone got up and ate breakfast.  After breakfast, we went to a dance camp where we learned a few dances from two of our coach's friends.  We called one of them "Ciara's Mom" (Lavern)!  The first lady was pretty tough and the second lady was nice.  I screwed up the dance very well.

Later on, we ate dinner at Demos's, where we were joined by "Ciara's Mom" (Lavern) and Eddie George.  At the end of the dinner, Ms. Sabrina gave everyone a medal, then we walked around downtown and also had a carriage ride.  Unbelievably, there were ten people on the carriage!  One of the ten thought she was "M-town's finest."

On Sunday morning, we prepared for church.  That's when I was given my hair back!  We had a great service.  After church we ate lunch and went to the mall.  When were were finished with lunch, the people at my table and I went to the store.  Ms. Sabrina came and hunted us down because we didn't clean our table.  We were coming out of the store just as she was about to come in and embarrass us.

At the mall we bought gifts for our cheer sister and gave it to them before we left.  Then we headed back to Memphis and arrived at approximately 8:22 p.m.
