Former Lady Saluqi and
Mississippi State standout Imesia Jackson is in her fourth year as
assistant women’s basketball coach at Southwest. Jackson played for
the Lady Saluqis from 2004-06 and was named first team All-TCCAA and
honorable mention NJCAA All-American as a sophomore. Jackson ended
her Southwest career as the College’s eighth all-time leading scorer
with 825 points and also the eighth all-time rebounder with 506.
Jackson continued her education and basketball career at Mississippi
State University, where she was a two-year starter and averaged 10.1
points per game. As a senior, Jackson received MSU’s team awards for
Field Goal Percentage, Deflections, and Charges.
In April 2008, Jackson participated in Nike’s “So You Want To Be A
Coach” Program in Tampa Bay, Florida which was hosted by the Women’s
Basketball Coaches Association. Jackson was one of only 50 senior
student-athletes nationwide who were selected for the program based
on their academics, contributions to women’s basketball on and off
the court, professional resume and a written recommendation from
their head coach.
A native of Crawford, Mississippi, Jackson was a two-time all-state
player at East Oktibbeha High School in Starkville. She was selected
team MVP in each of her sophomore, junior, and seniors seasons, and
was chosen to the All-Area team in the same span.
