“Emmanuel is an outstanding ballhandler, shooter, and defenseman. He has to be one of our leaders this year in our attempt at national honors. The ball will be in his hands and he has to make the proper decisions. Emmanuel is tremendously strong for a guard but also has great quickness.”

2006-07: Cheers was a part-time starter for the Saluqis, averaging 7.8 points and 4.8 assists per game. He ranked second on the team with 150 assists, 60 steals, and a .720 free throw percentage. Cheers scored in double figures 12 times including a season-high 17 points against Hiwassee.

High School: Cheers played for Coach Irving Clay at Marion High School in Marion, Arkansas, where he averaged 18.7 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds per game as a senior. He led Marion to a 26-4 record and the final four of the Arkansas State Playoffs. Cheers was named all-conference and Class AAAA All-State.

Personal: Born February 21, 1988, in Wynne, Arkansas, Cheers is the son of Erma Cheers.
