Southwest Soccer defeats Dyersburg State to take winning record
Southwest's women's soccer team defeated conference foe Dyersburg State by a score of 4-1 December 6, in Covington, Tennessee to improve its overall record to 3-2 on the season including 2-1 in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) conference.
All of the Saluqi scoring came in the first half. Freshman Juliane Guimaraes Alcantara scored the first goal at just one minute in to give Southwest a 1-0 lead. She was assisted on the goal by freshman Thaina Aparecida de Paula, who also scored the Lady Saluqis' second goal in the 20th minute. Sophomore Caitlan Dew scored an unassisted goal in the 31st minute then added a second goal (assisted by Alcantara) with in the 39th minute to give Southwest a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Saluqis' soccer team returns to action on Sunday, September 9 against Columbia State in a matchup of TCCAA teams. The match is set for 3 p.m. at St. George's Independent School, 1880 Wolf River Blvd., Collierville, TN 38017
