FIRST BASE

At first base, Kacie Adams of Bolton High School will be the starter. Adams was a four-year letterwinner at
Bolton, and played on teams that made the state tournament three of her four years. "Kacie is an excellent defensive first baseman," said Gentry.
"She has a lot of potential as a hitter, and needs to continue to improve and be a player who drives in runs."

SECOND BASE

Jessica Laubacker of Newfane, New York moved to the Memphis area last year and was a welcome addition to the Southwest program. "Jessica is one of the team’s top bunters, and a good fielder as well," said Gentry. "She saw some action at shortstop in the fall, and could be a backup at the position this spring."

THIRD BASE

Chrissy Odom, a five-time Best of the Preps honoree, is one of the team’s most versatile players. She will
start at third base, but will also see action in the outfield and behind the plate. "Chrissy is one of our top hitters with a lot of pop in her bat," said Gentry.
"She should be a good run producer for us this season."

SHORTSTOP

Heather Bryant, who started on two Class AAA state tournament teams at Brighton High School, will be the shortstop. She will see some action at third base and also as a relief pitcher. "Heather anchors our infield at shortstop," said Gentry. "She has a good glove and an excellent throwing arm. Heather has potential as a hitter, and is selective at the plate." Lakus Bonner, a member of the Lady Saluqis’ basketball team, will join the softball team after the basketball season, and will also see plenty of playing time at the shortstop position. "Lakus is a good athlete who should help us in the infield once the basketball season is over,"
said Gentry.
