Gatewood lettered four years as a third baseman for Coach Robin
Jacobs at Brighton High School, where she led her team to District
13AAA runnerup in 2007. As a senior, Gatewood batted .282 with two
home runs and 13 runs batted in. She earned all-district and
all-district tournament honors as both a junior and senior and
academic all-district her senior year. One of the top all round
athletes in West Tennessee, Gatewood was a four-year letterwinner
for Brighton in both volleyball and basketball. In volleyball, she
was named all-district and all-district tournament all four years,
all-region for two years, and team MVP as a junior. Gatewood was
one of Brighton’s leading scorers In basketball and received
Brighton’s team MVP and Miss Basketball awards. In addition, she
was selected Female Athlete of the Year by the Millington Star.
Personal: Born October 4, 1988, in Memphis, Gatewood is the
daughter of Eric and Alice Nall.
