“Ashley is a solid player who can hit the open jump shot. She also
attacks the rim and plays solid defense.”
High School: Byrd played for Coach Eddie Addison at St. Helena High
School, where she averaged 22 points per game and led her team to a 20-2
record as a senior. Byrd was named St. Helena’s Most Valuable Player in both
her junior and senior seasons and was also district MVP as a senior.
Personal: Born January 14, 1989, in Independence, Louisiana, Byrd is
the daughter of Bernadine Byrd and Hollis Griffin, Jr.
