Rashard Thurston is in his second season on the Lady Saluqi staff after serving four years on the coaching staff at Northeastern University including the past three years as director of basketball operations.

Thurston, who completed his masters degree in Sports Leadership at Northeastern, began as an administrative assistant in 2009 then was elevated to the director of women's basketball operations the next season, becoming Northeastern’s first ever director of operations for the women's basketball program. Thurston oversaw all travel, budgetary functions, video coordination, and served as the liaison between the coaching staff and NU's strength and conditioning and sports medicine staff. He also oversaw the daily operations of the program.

Prior to his arrival at Northeastern, Thurston served as a successful high school coach at Lakeland High School and King High School in his native Florida. He also taught U.S. History, psychology and economics at both schools.

Thurston graduated from Florida A&M University in 2006 with a degree in social science education. While in college, he was a member of the United States Army Reserves from 1998 to 2004, serving tours in Egypt and Iraq.

A Miami native, Thurston and his wife, Idia have a son, Zele.
